Most people don't know this...but I hybernate during the winter (yes...the bears and I). My closest friends know this and (amazingly) accept this about me. So, when Spring/Summer appears...so do I. There could not be a better "coming out" party than a day with my girlfriend Bonnie. And what did we decide to do? Cruise for garage sales and roam the aisles of local antique stores.
Work in a late lunch (where we ate dessert first), an even later dinner, and an hour sitting on the floor in Powell's City of Books...oh, the things "Girlfriend-Fridays" are made out of! To top the evening off...a sidewalk serenade by Elvis himself (apparently, Elvis has left the building and is now walking the streets of Portland). A few of our finds included a vintage scale in "that" color blue, oodles of pearls, really vintage scrabble letters, old keys-and-books-and-cabinet-cards (oh, my!), a pair of blue bunny slippers (sans the bunny - but still perfect for the studio!), vintage tape measures and a pair of blue netted pie covers (or hats depending on how many cocktails you've had! We had so much fun giggling (as girlfriends do) and I am totally re-inspired to create using my vintage treasures! Thank you, Bonnie, for a great date!
